I just moved from one managed hosting provider to another and thats always painful. Until I get sorted out there may be some missing image links as I reattach Gallery to WordPress.

But I get bonus points! I moved everything into a VMWare instance on the new servers. This means that in the future my moves (every 2 years or so) will be painless as I just have to copy (1) 16GB file to the new server and launch it in VMWare or QEMU or Xen or whatever the Virtualization flavor of the month is. Compare this to the painful process of compiling all of my services on the new box, trying to remember what hacks and tweaks I have added to make it all run smoothly and THEN migrating all of my content and carefully checking to make sure that neither I nor any of my friends hosted sites lose content.

Anyhow, working to restore my images and anything else that may be bothered. Things are a bit busy right now so it may take awhile to get everything 100% sorted.

BTW - The Virtualization thing? Completely cool. I’m running 3 entirely different systems on one piece of hardware and finally have an environment that lets me experiment in one machine without impacting all of our regular Joe users. No more ‘oops, I broke the basic hosting while trying to get Ruby/Rails running under Apache’ kind of instances. Hooray!
